Domenico Stifanich was born in 1948 in Cittanova (Novigrad), which at the time was located in Zone B of the Free Territory of Trieste. He was called up for military service in October 1968 and immediately transferred to the Basic Training Centre (CAR) in Trapani, Sicily. There he served for approximately two months, before being assigned to the 52nd Infantry Regiment “Alpi” (a “Fanteria d’Arresto” unit responsible for manning defensive fortifications), where he performed duties as a radio operator.
Stationed initially at the Ipplis Barracks (Province of Udine) for a period of training and then primarily at the Attimis Barracks (Province of Udine), he carried out guard duties at defensive installations located in the border area. Upon completion of his compulsory military service in December 1969, he returned to Trieste, where he worked as a parquet flooring craftsman.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
