For an entire year, we conducted in-depth research, travelling hundreds of kilometres and collecting testimonies from those who experienced first-hand a crucial period for our region. This project, funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and CiviBank, stems from the firm belief that history is not merely a sequence of dates and events, but a mosaic of human stories, memories and experiences that deserve to be preserved.
Our commitment was to give shape to these narratives, paying tribute to a process grounded in dedication, interviews, archival research and careful analysis. Every kilometre travelled and every word collected contributed to building a more complete understanding of a past that continues to shape our present.
We worked rigorously to archive and preserve each testimony and document, creating a lasting heritage for future generations. The success of this endeavour was also made possible by the invaluable collaboration of a wide network of local contacts, which enriched the project and made it more representative of the territory.
How can this work be made accessible to everyone?
History cannot remain confined to archives or reserved solely for specialists. For this reason, our team of historians, graphic designers and web designers worked closely together to transform this research into a public history project that is accessible and contemporary. Each piece of content was designed to be easily usable, ensuring that history once again becomes a shared asset, open to all.
