Fabio Ortolani was born in Trieste in 1944. After completing a scientific secondary school diploma, he performed his military service in the Alpini from January 1969 to April 1970, first as a conscripted Officer Cadet (AUC), then as an AUC Sergeant, and finally as a Second Lieutenant and Lieutenant. In April 1971, he graduated in Political Science and married. He subsequently joined the Lloyd Triestino Shipping Company, working as an official in the Commercial Directorate and later serving as manager of the East and West Africa and South Africa shipping lines. Registered with the Register of Maritime Agents, he has been retired since January 2003. In 1971, he joined the Trieste Section of the National Alpini Association, of which he also served as President. He is additionally President of the Alpini Cultural Circle (which he co-founded) and Head of the Section’s Civil Protection Unit.
