Maurizio Berquier, a native of Trieste, began his military service in October 1975, when he reported to the Cavalry Cadet Officer School at the “D’Amico” Barracks in Caserta. Upon completion of the course, he was assigned to his hometown of Trieste and posted to the Tank Squadron Group “Lancieri di Firenze”, based at the “Dardi” Barracks in Borgo Grotta Gigante.
At the time of his discharge, he was offered the opportunity to enter permanent active service, but chose instead to return to civilian life and focus on his professional career. He later acknowledged that his military experience provided him with important lessons in self-discipline and organisational skills.
