Paolo Candotti, born in Trieste in 1944, departed for Cuneo in 1969 and was assigned to the Basic Training Battalion (BAR) in Mondovì. He was subsequently posted to the “Mondovì” Alpini Battalion, which at the time was attached to the 8th Alpini Regiment of the “Julia” Brigade, stationed in Paluzza (Province of Udine).
After completing his military service as a signals operator and performing public order duties in Alto Adige/South Tyrol for several months, he returned to Trieste, where he began his career in public education as a primary school teacher. A member of the Trieste Section of the National Alpini Association since 1970, the year of his discharge, he was serving as Section President at the time of the interview (May 2025).
