Silvano Castellarin, born in Casarsa della Delizia (Province of Pordenone) in 1937, served in the Alpini mountain infantry as a mule driver. He was called up for military service in 1958 while working in France. After returning to Italy, he received his initial training at the Basic Training Centre (CAR) in Bassano del Grappa (Province of Vicenza) and was subsequently assigned to the 8th Alpini Regiment of the “Julia” Brigade.
Upon completion of his compulsory military service, he returned to civilian life in Casarsa della Delizia, where he worked as a factory worker until retirement. Throughout his life, he has maintained strong ties to his Friulian and rural roots.
